one was outside the arch code and it is a driver only built for powerpc.

This patch implements support for HW based watchpoint via the
DBSR_DAC (Data Address Compare) facility of the BookE processors.
It does so by interfacing with the existing DABR breakpoint code
and adding the necessary bits and pieces for the new bits to
be properly set or cleared

giveup_vsx didn't save the FPU and VMX regsiters. Change it to be
like giveup_fpr/altivec which save these registers.
Also update call sites where FPU and VMX are already saved to use the
original giveup_vsx (renamed to __giveup_vsx).

This patch extends the floating point save and restore code to use the
VSX load/stores when VSX is available. This will make FP context
save/restore marginally slower on FP only code, when VSX is available,
as it has to load/store 128bits rather than just 64bits.
Mixing FP, VMX and VSX code will get constant architected state.
The signals interface is extended to enable access to VSR 0-31
doubleword 1 after discussions with tool chain maintainers. Backward
compatibility is maintained.
The ptrace interface is also extended to allow access to VSR 0-31 full
registers.

We currently have a few routines for patching code in asm/system.h, because
they didn't fit anywhere else. I'd like to clean them up a little and add
some more, so first move them into a dedicated C file - they don't need to
be inlined.
While we're moving the code, drop create_function_call(), it's intended
caller never got merged and will be replaced in future with something
different.

For 64-bit processors, lwsync is the recommended method of store/store
ordering on caching enabled memory. For those subarchs which have
lwsync, use it rather than eieio for smp_wmb.

lwsync is explicitly defined not to have any effect on the ordering of
accesses to device memory, so it cannot be used for rmb(). sync appears
to be the only barrier which fits the bill.

This changes the definitions of the xchg and cmpxchg families of
functions in include/asm-powerpc/system.h to be marked __always_inline
rather than __inline__. The reason for doing this is that we rely on
the compiler inlining them in order to eliminate the references to
__xchg_called_with_bad_pointer and __cmpxchg_called_with_bad_pointer,
which are deliberately left undefined. Thus this change will enable
us to make the inline keyword be just a hint rather than a directive.

The rearrangements in 945feb174b14e7098cc7ecf0cf4768d35bc52f9c
("[POWERPC] irqtrace support for 64-bit powerpc") caused 64-bit
non-SMP configs to fail to compile with a message about
local_irq_save being undefined in include/linux/proportions.h.
This follows the lead of x86 in including <linux/irqflags.h> in
asm/system.h, which fixes the problem.

include/asm-powerpc/elf.h has 6 entries in ARCH_DLINFO. fs/binfmt_elf.c
has 14 unconditional NEW_AUX_ENT entries and 2 conditional NEW_AUX_ENT
entries. So in the worst case, saved_auxv does not get an AT_NULL entry at
the end.
The saved_auxv array must be terminated with an AT_NULL entry. Make the
size of mm_struct->saved_auxv arch dependend, based on the number of
ARCH_DLINFO entries.

The prom.c debugging code creates a "powerpc" directory in debugfs,
which is nice, but doesn't allow any other debugging code to stick things
under "powerpc" in debugfs. So make it global.
While we're there we should make the prom.c debugging code depend on
CONFIG_DEBUG_FS, because it doesn't work otherwise.

The e500 core generates an illegal instruction exception when it tries
to execute the lwsync instruction, which we currently use for rmb().
This fixes it by using the LWSYNC macro, which turns into a plain sync
on 32-bit machines.

For some reason we have two prototypes for xmon_init(), remove the
one in system.h.
No one calls xmon() anymore, debugger() is preferable, so we don't
need the prototype. And similarly no one calls xmon_printf().
Also update the include guards on xmon.h to match the standard
format, add copyright and license, and add comments to #endifs.
Built for pseries_defconfig and pmac32_defconfig.

There are two problems in the powerpc gettimeofday code which can
cause incorrect results to be returned.
The first is that there is a race between do_gettimeofday and the
timer interrupt:
1. do_gettimeofday does get_tb()
2. decrementer exception on boot cpu which runs timer_recalc_offset,
which also samples the timebase and updates the do_gtod structure
with a greater timebase value.
3. do_gettimeofday calls __do_gettimeofday, which leads to the
negative result from tb_val - temp_varp->tb_orig_stamp.
The second is caused by taking the boot cpu offline, which can cause
the value of tb_last_jiffy to be increased past the currently
available timebase, causing the same underflow as above.

set_wmb should not be used in the kernel because it just confuses the
code more and has no benefit. Since it is not currently used in the
kernel this patch removes it so that new code does not include it.
All archs define set_wmb(var, value) to do { var = value; wmb(); }
while(0) except ia64 and sparc which use a mb() instead. But this is
still moot since it is not used anyway.
Hasn't been tested on any archs but x86 and x86_64 (and only compiled
tested)

Previously we added NET_IP_ALIGN so an architecture can override the
padding done to align headers. The next step is to allow the skb
headroom to be overridden.
We currently always reserve 16 bytes to grow into, meaning all DMAs
start 16 bytes into a cacheline. On ppc64 we really want DMA writes to
start on a cacheline boundary, so we increase that headroom to one
cacheline.

This implements accurate task and cpu time accounting for 64-bit
powerpc kernels. Instead of accounting a whole jiffy of time to a
task on a timer interrupt because that task happened to be running at
the time, we now account time in units of timebase ticks according to
the actual time spent by the task in user mode and kernel mode. We
also count the time spent processing hardware and software interrupts
accurately. This is conditional on CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING. If
that is not set, we do tick-based approximate accounting as before.
To get this accurate information, we read either the PURR (processor
utilization of resources register) on POWER5 machines, or the timebase
on other machines on
* each entry to the kernel from usermode
* each exit to usermode
* transitions between process context, hard irq context and soft irq
context in kernel mode
* context switches.
On POWER5 systems with shared-processor logical partitioning we also
read both the PURR and the timebase at each timer interrupt and
context switch in order to determine how much time has been taken by
the hypervisor to run other partitions ("steal" time). Unfortunately,
since we need values of the PURR on both threads at the same time to
accurately calculate the steal time, and since we can only calculate
steal time on a per-core basis, the apportioning of the steal time
between idle time (time which we ceded to the hypervisor in the idle
loop) and actual stolen time is somewhat approximate at the moment.
This is all based quite heavily on what s390 does, and it uses the
generic interfaces that were added by the s390 developers,
i.e. account_system_time(), account_user_time(), etc.
This patch doesn't add any new interfaces between the kernel and
userspace, and doesn't change the units in which time is reported to
userspace by things such as /proc/stat, /proc/<pid>/stat, getrusage(),
times(), etc. Internally the various task and cpu times are stored in
timebase units, but they are converted to USER_HZ units (1/100th of a
second) when reported to userspace. Some precision is therefore lost
but there should not be any accumulating error, since the internal
accumulation is at full precision.

eieio is only a store - store ordering. When used to order an unlock
operation loads may leak out of the critical region. This is potentially
buggy, one example is if a user wants to atomically read a couple of
values.
We can solve this with an lwsync which orders everything except store - load.
I removed the (now unused) EIEIO_ON_SMP macros and the c versions
isync_on_smp and eieio_on_smp now we dont use them. I also removed some
old comments that were used to identify inline spinlocks in assembly,
they dont make sense now our locks are out of line.
Another interesting thing was that read_unlock was using an eieio even
though the rest of the spinlock code had already been converted to
use lwsync.

Heikki Lindholm pointed out that there was a potential race with the
lazy CPU state (FP, VR, EVR) stuff if preempt is enabled. The race
is that in the process of restoring FP state on sigreturn, the task
gets preempted by a user task that wants to use the FPU. It will take
an FP unavailable exception, which will write the current FPU state
to the thread_struct, overwriting the values which sigreturn has
stored. Note that this can only happen on UP since we don't implement
lazy CPU state on SMP.
The fix is to flush the lazy CPU state before updating the
thread_struct. To do this we re-use the flush_lazy_cpu_state()
function from process.c.

include/asm-ppc/ had #ifdef __KERNEL__ in all header files that
are not meant for use by user space, include/asm-powerpc does
not have this yet.
This patch gets us a lot closer there. There are a few cases
where I was not sure, so I left them out. I have verified
that no CONFIG_* symbols are used outside of __KERNEL__
any more and that there are no obvious compile errors when
including any of the headers in user space libraries.

This patch consolidates macros used to generate assembly for
compatibility across different CPUs or configs. A new header,
asm-powerpc/asm-compat.h contains the main compatibility macros. It
uses some preprocessor magic to make the macros suitable both for use
in .S files, and in inline asm in .c files. Headers (bitops.h,
uaccess.h, atomic.h, bug.h) which had their own such compatibility
macros are changed to use asm-compat.h.
ppc_asm.h is now for use in .S files *only*, and a #error enforces
that. As such, we're a lot more careless about namespace pollution
here than in asm-compat.h.
While we're at it, this patch adds a call to the PPC405_ERR77 macro in
futex.h which should have had it already, but didn't.
Built and booted on pSeries, Maple and iSeries (ARCH=powerpc). Built
for 32-bit powermac (ARCH=powerpc) and Walnut (ARCH=ppc).

Adds a new CONFIG_PPC_64K_PAGES which, when enabled, changes the kernel
base page size to 64K. The resulting kernel still boots on any
hardware. On current machines with 4K pages support only, the kernel
will maintain 16 "subpages" for each 64K page transparently.
Note that while real 64K capable HW has been tested, the current patch
will not enable it yet as such hardware is not released yet, and I'm
still verifying with the firmware architects the proper to get the
information from the newer hypervisors.

We had a static memory_limit in prom.c, and then another one defined
in setup_64.c and used in numa.c, which resulted in the kernel crashing
when mem=xxx was given on the command line. This puts the declaration
in system.h and the definition in mem.c. This also moves the
definition of tce_alloc_start/end out of setup_64.c.

The recent merge of fpu.S broken the handling of fpscr for
ARCH=powerpc and CONFIG_PPC64=y. FP registers could be corrupted,
leading to strange random application crashes.
The confusion arises, because the thread_struct has (and requires) a
64-bit area to save the fpscr, because we use load/store double
instructions to get it in to/out of the FPU. However, only the low
32-bits are actually used, so we want to treat it as a 32-bit quantity
when manipulating its bits to avoid extra load/stores on 32-bit. This
patch replaces the current definition with a structure of two 32-bit
quantities (pad and val), to clarify things as much as is possible.
The 'val' field is used when manipulating bits, the structure itself
is used when obtaining the address for loading/unloading the value
from the FPU.
While we're at it, consolidate the 4 (!) almost identical versions of
cvt_fd() and cvt_df() (arch/ppc/kernel/misc.S,
arch/ppc64/kernel/misc.S, arch/powerpc/kernel/misc_32.S,
arch/powerpc/kernel/misc_64.S) into a single version in fpu.S. The
new version takes a pointer to thread_struct and applies the correct
offset itself, rather than a pointer to the fpscr field itself, again
to avoid confusion as to which is the correct field to use.
Finally, this patch makes ARCH=ppc64 also use the consolidated fpu.S
code, which it previously did not.
Built for G5 (ARCH=ppc64 and ARCH=powerpc), 32-bit powermac (ARCH=ppc
and ARCH=powerpc) and Walnut (ARCH=ppc, CONFIG_MATH_EMULATION=y).
Booted on G5 (ARCH=powerpc) and things which previously fell over no
longer do.

This declares powersave_nap in system.h and makes it an int everywhere,
fixes typos for the maple platform, fixes a couple of places where
I missed removing the last two arguments from a message_pass function,
and makes ppc64 consistent with ppc32 in the type of the
pci_bridge.cfg_data field.

This brings in the ppc64 version of prom_init.c, prom.c and btext.c
and makes them work for ppc32. This also brings in the new calling
convention, where the first entry to the kernel (with r5 != 0) goes
to the prom_init code, which then restarts from the beginning (with
r5 == 0) after it has done its stuff.
For now this also brings in the ppc32 version of setup.c. It also
merges lmb.h.
