The problem is that this function exits BEFORE the 'xxx_alive_start' has completed. This can lead to a problem if a subsequent MAC callback attempts to issue a firmware command. This is already captured by having them as __devexit_p in the pci_driver struct - these are supposed to be pointers to __devexit functions, but was not. This is now fixed.
