2005-09-22[IA64] Fix simscsi for new SCSI midlayerPeter Chubb
The sd driver now uses scsi_execute_req() for almost everything. scsi_execute_req() converts requests into scatterlists. Fix the HP SCSI disk simulator to understand scatterlists for more commands. Without this patch the current kernel will not boot on the simulator (the disks are always detected as having no sectors, and so cannot be mounted). 2005-08-31[IA64] Add PAL_VM_SUMMARY/PAL_MEM_ATTRIB to bootloader for SKIPeter Chubb
This patch implements PAL_VM_SUMMARY (and PAL_MEM_ATTRIB for good measure) and pretends that the simulated machine is a McKinley. Some extra comments and clean-up by Tony Luck. Signed-off-by: Peter Chubb <peterc@gelato.unsw.edu.au> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
2005-08-24[IA64] arch/ia64/hp/sim/boot/fw-emu.c: remove egcs workaroundAdrian Bunk
Kernel 2.6 doesn't support egcs, and I didn't find any user of this function. Signed-off-by: Adrian Bunk <bunk@stusta.de> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
2005-08-23[IA64] Fix simulator boot (for real this time).Peter Chubb
Thanks to Stephane, we've now worked out the real cause of the `Linux will not boot on simulator' problem. Turns out it's a stack overflow because the stack pointer wasn't being initialised properly in boot_head.S (it was being initialised to the lowest instead of the highest address of the stack, so the first push started to overwrite data in the BSS). 2005-08-23[IA64] backout incorrect fix for simulator boot issueTony Luck
Earlier fix in 4aec0fb12267718c750475f3404337ad13caa8f5 just masked the real problem. Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
2005-08-18[IA64] Simulator bootloader fails with gcc 4Ian Wienand
After building a fresh tree with gcc 4 I can't boot the simulator as the bootloader loader dies with loading /home/ianw/kerntest/kerncomp//build/sim_defconfig/vmlinux... failed to read phdr After some investigation I believe this is do with differences between the alignment of variables on the stack between gcc 3 and 4 and the ski simulator. If you trace through with the simulator you can see that the disk_stat structure value returned from the SSC_WAIT_COMPLETION call seems to be only half loaded. I guess it doesn't like the alignment of the input. Signed-off-by: Ian Wienand <ianw@gelato.unsw.edu.au> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
2005-07-11[IA64] assign_irq_vector() should not panicKenji Kaneshige
Current assign_irq_vector() will panic if interrupt vectors is running out. But I think how to handle the case of lack of interrupt vectors should be handled by the caller of this function. For example, some PCI devices can raise the interrupt signal via both MSI and I/O APIC. So even if the driver for these device fails to allocate a vector for MSI, the driver still has a chance to use I/O APIC based interrupt. But currently there is no chance for these driver to use I/O APIC based interrupt because kernel will panic when assign_irq_vector() fails to allocate interrupt vector. The following patch changes assign_irq_vector() for ia64 to return -ENOSPC on error instead of panic (as i386 and x86_64 versions do). 2005-06-28[IA64] Replace stale KDB-code with useful MAGIC_SYSRQ code in simserial.cDavid Mosberger-Tang
Patch makes it possible to use the "F4" function key to do magic sysrq in the HP Ski simulator. Signed-off-by: David Mosberger-Tang <davidm@hpl.hp.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>
2005-06-28[IA64] Recognize HP sx2000 chipsetBjorn Helgaas
No functional change, just identify the device nicely: -IOC: Unknown (103c:12ec) 0.1 HPA 0xf8020002000 IOVA space 1024Mb at 0x40000000 +IOC: sx2000 0.1 HPA 0xf8020002000 IOVA space 1024Mb at 0x40000000 We used to create fake PCI devices for these chips, but we no longer do that. So I don't think there's any reason to touch pci_ids.h now. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bjorn.helgaas@hp.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Luck <tony.luck@intel.com>

2005-04-25[IA64] sba_iommu bug fixesAlex Williamson
This fixes a couple of bugs in the zx1/sx1000 sba_iommu. These are all pretty low likelihood of hitting. The first problem is a simple off by one, deep in the sba_alloc_range() error path. Surrounding that was a lock ordering problem that could have potentially deadlocked with the order the locks are grabbed in sba_unmap_single(). I moved the resource locking into sba_search_bitmap() to prevent this. Finally, there's a potential race between unmapping pdir entries and marking incoming DMA pages clean. If you see any oddities, please let me know, but I've tested it pretty thoroughly here. Tony, please apply. Thanks, BTW, many of the options in this driver not on by default are becoming more and more broken. I'll be working on some patches to clean them out, but I wanted to get this bug fix out first. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
