2006-10-25[POWERPC] Fix hang in start_ldr if _end or _edata is unalignedOlaf Hering
Quick fix for lack of memset(__bss_start, 0, _end-__bss_start) in load_kernel(). If edata is unaligned, the loop will overwrite all memory because r3 and r4 will never be equal. Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <olaf@aepfle.de> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

2006-03-28ppc: Remove CHRP, POWER3 and POWER4 support from arch/ppcPaul Mackerras
32-bit CHRP machines are now supported only in arch/powerpc, as are all 64-bit PowerPC processors. This means that we don't use Open Firmware on any platform in arch/ppc any more. This makes PReP support a single-platform option like every other platform support option in arch/ppc now, thus CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is gone from arch/ppc. CONFIG_PPC_PREP is the option that selects PReP support and is generally what has replaced CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM within arch/ppc. _machine is all but dead now, being #defined to 0. Updated Makefiles, comments and Kconfig options generally to reflect these changes. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-02-10[PATCH] powerpc: trivial: modify comments to refer to new location of filesJon Mason
This patch removes all self references and fixes references to files in the now defunct arch/ppc64 tree. I think this accomplises everything wanted, though there might be a few references I missed. Signed-off-by: Jon Mason <jdmason@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-02-07[PATCH] powerpc: Add support for Xilinx ML403 reference designGrant C. Likely

2006-02-07[PATCH] powerpc: Migrate Xilinx Vertex support from the OCP bus to the ↵Grant C. Likely
platfom bus. This patch only deals with the serial port definitions as there is no support for any other xilinx IP cores in the kernel tree at the moment. Board specific configuration moved out of virtex.[ch] and into the xparameters.h wrapper. This also prepares for the transition to the flattened device tree model. When the bootloader provides a device tree generated from an xparameters.h files, the kernel will no longer need xparameters/*. The platform bus will get populated with data from the device tree, and the device drivers will be automatically connected to the devices. Only the bootloader (or ppcboot) will need xparameters directly. Signed-off-by: Grant C. Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-01-06[PATCH] ppc32: Re-add embed_config.c to ml300/ep405Peter Korsgaard
Commit 3e9e7c1d0b7a36fb8affb973a054c5098e27baa8 (ppc32: cleanup AMCC PPC40x eval boards to support U-Boot) broke the kernel for ML300 / EP405. It still compiles as there's a weak definition of the function in misc-embedded.c, but the kernel crashes as the bd_t fixup isn't performed. Signed-off-by: Peter Korsgaard <jacmet@sunsite.dk> Cc: <stable@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-12-01[PATCH] ppc32: fix treeboot image entrypointEugene Surovegin
Correctly specify treeboot based image entrypoint. Currently makefile uses $(ENTRYPOINT) which isn't defined anywhere. Each board port sets entrypoint-$(CONFIG_BOARD_NAME) instead. Without this patch I cannot boot Ocotea (PPC440GX eval board) anymore. I was getting random "OS panic" errors from OpenBIOS for a while, but with current kernel I get them all the time (probably because image became bigger). 2005-11-07[PATCH] ppc32: cleanup AMCC PPC40x eval boards to support U-BootMatt Porter
Cleanup PPC40x eval boards (bubinga, walnut and sycamore) to support U-Boot as bootloader. The OpenBIOS bd_info struct is not used in the kernel anymore (only U-Boot now). uImage (U-Boot) tested on walnut, sycamore and bubinga zImage (OpenBIOS) tested on sycamore, bubinga and ebony Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de> Signed-off-by: Matt Porter <mporter@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2005-06-21[PATCH] ppc32: Kill embedded system.map, use kallsymsBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch kills the whole embedded System.map mecanism and the bootloader-passed System.map that was used to provide symbol resolution in xmon. Instead, xmon now uses kallsyms like ppc64 does. No hurry getting that in Linus tree, let it be tested in -mm for a while first and make sure it doesn't break various embedded configs. 2005-04-16[PATCH] ppc32: Fix building 32bit kernel for 64bit machinesTom Rini
When building a ppc32 MULTIPLATFORM kernel for a 64bit pmac, we try and build certain files or use certain functions that make no sense in that context. This catches the last of these. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
