Impact: build failure in maximal configurations
The 32-bit x86 relocatable kernel requires an auxilliary host program
to process the relocations. This program had a hard-coded arbitrary
limit of a 100 ELF sections. Instead of a hard-coded limit, allocate
the structures dynamically.

Apparently, DOS and possibly other legacy operating systems issued a
null command to the keyboard controller after toggling A20,
specifically "pulse output pins" with no output pins specified. This
was presumably done for synchronization reasons. This has made it
into at least the UHCI spec, and it has been found to cause
compatibility problems when "legacy USB" is enabled (which it almost
always is) to not have this byte sent.
It is *NOT* clear if any of these compatibility problems has any
effect on Linux. However, for maximum compatibility, issue this null
command after togging A20 through the KBC.

This patch lets the early real mode code look for the 'quiet' option
on the kernel command line and pass a loadflag to the decompressor.
When this flag is set, we suppress the "Decompressing Linux... Parsing
ELF... done." messages.

Trying to boot a 64-bit kernel on a 32bit Pentium 4 gets
you an amusing message along the lines of.
"you need an x86-64, but you only have an i1586"
due to the P4 being family F. Munge it to be 686.

This patch is motivated by a subsequent patch which will allow for more
memory map entries on EFI supported systems than can be passed via the x86
legacy BIOS E820 interface. The legacy interface is limited to E820MAX ==
128 memory entries, and that "E820MAX" manifest constant was used as the
size for several arrays and loops over those arrays.
The primary change in this patch is to change code loop sizes over those
arrays from using the constant E820MAX, to using the ARRAY_SIZE() macro
evaluated for the array being looped. That way, a subsequent patch can
change the size of some of these arrays, without breaking this code.
This patch also adds a parameter to the sanitize_e820_map() routine,
which had an implicit size for the array passed it of E820MAX entries.
This new parameter explicitly passes the size of said array. Once again,
this will allow a subsequent patch to change that array size for some
calls to sanitize_e820_map() without breaking the code.
As part of enhancing the sanitize_e820_map() interface this way, I further
combined the unnecessarily distinct x86_32 and x86_64 declarations for
this routine into a single, commonly used, declaration.
This patch in itself should make no difference to the resulting kernel
binary.

Add a kernel parameter option to 'edd' to enable/disable BIOS Enhanced Disk
Drive Services. CONFIG_EDD_OFF disables EDD while still compiling EDD into
the kernel. Default behavior can be forced using 'edd=on' or 'edd=off' as
a kernel parameter.

The kernel decompressor wrapper uses memory located beyond the
end of the image. This might lead to hard to debug problems,
but even if it can be proven to be safe, it is at the very
least unclean. I don't see any advantages either, unless you
count it not being zeroed out as an advantage. This patch
moves the boot-heap area to the bss segment.

Move wakeup code to .c, so that video mode setting code can be shared
between boot and wakeup. Remove nasty assembly code in 64-bit case by
re-using trampoline code. Stack setup was fixed to clear high 16bits
of %esp, maybe that fixes some machines.
.c code sharing and morse code was done H. Peter Anvin, Sam Ravnborg
reviewed kbuild related stuff, and it seems okay to him. Rafael did
some cleanups.

In arch/x86/boot/compressed/misc.c, the variable vidmem is
the only variable that ends up in de data segment. It's also
superfluous, because the first thing the code does is:

The new x86 setup code (4fd06960f120) broke booting on an old P3/500MHz
with an onboard Voodoo3 of mine. After debugging it, it turned out
to be caused by the fact that the vesa probing now asks for VBE2 data.
Disassembing the video BIOS shows that it overflows the vesa_general_info
structure when VBE2 data is requested because the source addresses for the
information strings which get strcpy'ed to the buffer lie outside the 32K
BIOS code (and hence contain long sequences of 0xff's).

The old setup code didn't ask for VBE2 info, and the new code doesn't
actually do anything with the extra information, so the fix is to simply
not request it. Other BIOS'es might have the same problem.

The proper way to terminate the e820 chain is with %ebx == 0 on the
last legitimate memory block. However, several BIOSes don't do that
and instead return error (CF = 1) when trying to read off the end of
the list. For this error return, %eax doesn't necessarily return the
SMAP signature -- correctly so, since %ah should contain an error code
in this case.
To deal with some particularly broken BIOSes, we clear the entire e820
chain if the SMAP signature is missing in the middle, indicating a
plain insane e820 implementation. However, we need to make the test
for CF = 1 before the SMAP check.
This fixes at least one HP laptop (nc6400) for which none of the
memory-probing methods (e820, e801, 88) functioned fully according to
spec.

In arch/x86/boot/printf.c gets rid of unused tail of digits: const char
*digits = "0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"; (we are using 0-9a-f
only)
Uses smaller/faster lowercasing (by ORing with 0x20)
if we know that we work on numbers/digits. Makes
strtoul smaller, and also we are getting rid of
static const char small_digits[] = "0123456789abcdefx";
static const char large_digits[] = "0123456789ABCDEFX";
since this works equally well:
