2008-10-09block: don't depend on consecutive minor spaceTejun Heo
* Implement disk_devt() and part_devt() and use them to directly access devt instead of computing it from ->major and ->first_minor. Note that all references to ->major and ->first_minor outside of block layer is used to determine devt of the disk (the part0) and as ->major and ->first_minor will continue to represent devt for the disk, converting these users aren't strictly necessary. However, convert them for consistency. * Implement disk_max_parts() to avoid directly deferencing genhd->minors. * Update bdget_disk() such that it doesn't assume consecutive minor space. * Move devt computation from register_disk() to add_disk() and make it the only one (all other usages use the initially determined value). These changes clean up the code and will help disk->part dereference fix and extended block device numbers. Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2008-10-09Kill REQ_TYPE_FLUSHDavid Woodhouse
It was only used by ps3disk, and it should probably have been REQ_TYPE_LINUX_BLOCK + REQ_LB_OP_FLUSH. Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <David.Woodhouse@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2008-04-29block: no need to initialize rq->cmd in prepare_flush_fn hookFUJITA Tomonori
The block layer initializes rq->cmd (queue_flush calls rq_init) so prepare_flush_fn hooks don't need to do that. The purpose of this patch is to remove sizeof(rq->cmd), as a preparation for large command support, which changes rq->cmd from the static array to a pointer. sizeof(rq->cmd) will not make sense. 2008-04-29ps3disk: Remove superfluous castGeert Uytterhoeven
As ps3disk is a ppc64-only driver, sector_t equals to unsigned long, and the cast is not needed. Reuse in another (possibly 32-bit) driver is protected by the safety net called `compiler warning' (with the cast, it may silently truncate to 32-bit). If sector_t ever changes, we will get a compiler warning as well (with the cast, we won't). 2008-01-28blk_end_request: changing ps3disk (take 4)Kiyoshi Ueda
This patch converts ps3disk to use blk_end_request interfaces. Related 'uptodate' arguments are converted to 'error'. 2007-10-16block: convert blkdev_issue_flush() to use empty barriersJens Axboe
Then we can get rid of ->issue_flush_fn() and all the driver private implementations of that. Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2007-10-10Fixup rq_for_each_segment() indentationJens Axboe
Remove one level of nesting where appropriate. Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2007-10-10Introduce rq_for_each_segment replacing rq_for_each_bioNeilBrown
Every usage of rq_for_each_bio wraps a usage of bio_for_each_segment, so these can be combined into rq_for_each_segment. We define "struct req_iterator" to hold the 'bio' and 'index' that are needed for the double iteration. Signed-off-by: Neil Brown <neilb@suse.de> Various compile fixes by me... 2007-07-24[BLOCK] Get rid of request_queue_t typedefJens Axboe
Some of the code has been gradually transitioned to using the proper struct request_queue, but there's lots left. So do a full sweet of the kernel and get rid of this typedef and replace its uses with the proper type. Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2007-07-21ps3: Disk Storage DriverGeert Uytterhoeven
Add a Disk Storage Driver for the PS3: - Implemented as a block device driver with a dynamic major - Disk names (and partitions) are of the format ps3d%c(%u) - Uses software scatter-gather with a 64 KiB bounce buffer as the hypervisor doesn't support scatter-gather Cc: Geoff Levand <geoffrey.levand@am.sony.com> Signed-off-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <Geert.Uytterhoeven@sonycom.com> Acked-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com> Cc: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@steeleye.com> Cc: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org> Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
