2009-11-28pcmcia: rework the irq_req_t typedefDominik Brodowski
Most of the irq_req_t typedef'd struct can be re-worked quite easily: (1) IRQInfo2 was unused in any case, so drop it. (2) IRQInfo1 was used write-only, so drop it. (3) Instance (private data to be passed to the IRQ handler): Most PCMCIA drivers using pcmcia_request_irq() to actually register an IRQ handler set the "dev_id" to the same pointer as the "priv" pointer in struct pcmcia_device. Modify the two exceptions (ipwireless, ibmtr_cs) to also work this waym and set the IRQ handler's "dev_id" to p_dev->priv unconditionally. (4) Handler is to be of type irq_handler_t. (5) Handler != NULL already tells whether an IRQ handler is present. Therefore, we do not need the IRQ_HANDLER_PRESENT flag in irq_req_t.Attributes. 2009-11-09pcmcia: use dynamic debug infrastructure, deprecate CS_CHECK (char)Dominik Brodowski
Convert PCMCIA drivers to use the dynamic debug infrastructure, instead of requiring manual settings of PCMCIA_DEBUG. Only some rare extra debug checks in cm4000_cs.c cm4040_cs.c are now hidden behind a "#ifdef CM4000_DEBUG" or "#ifdef CM4040_DEBUG". Also, remove all usages of the CS_CHECK macro and replace them with proper Linux style calling and return value checking. The extra error reporting may be dropped, as the PCMCIA core already complains about any (non-driver-author) errors. 2009-11-08ipwireless: make more use of pcmcia_loop_config()Dominik Brodowski
Within the pcmcia_loop_config() callback, we already have all tuple data available we need. Also add a fix to release the IO resource (at least within pcmcia_loop_config() error path). 2009-11-08pcmcia: use pcmcia_loop_config in misc pcmcia driversDominik Brodowski
Use pcmcia_loop_config() in a few drivers missed during the first round. On fmvj18x_cs.c it -- strangely -- only requries us to set conf.ConfigIndex, which is done by the core, so include an empty loop function which returns 0 unconditionally. CC: David S. 2009-07-20tty: fix chars_in_buffersAlan Cox

2009-06-11tty: Add carrier processing on close to the tty_port coreAlan Cox
Some drivers implement this internally, others miss it out. Push the behaviour into the core code as that way everyone will do it consistently. Update the dtr rts method to raise or lower depending upon flags. Having a single method in this style fits most of the implementations more cleanly than two funtions. We need this in place before we tackle the USB side Signed-off-by: Alan Cox <alan@lxorguk.ukuu.org.uk> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2008-10-13tty: ipw need reworkingAlan Cox
This came in via another tree and unfortunately is rather broken on the tty side. Comment the apparent locking problems for someone who knows the driver to look at. Fix the termios and other ioctl handling. The driver was calling the wrong methods for what it wanted to do but the right ones existed so its a simple fix up. 2008-08-31pcmcia: remove unused argument to pcmcia_parse_tuple()Dominik Brodowski
Since we're just parsing the tuple being passed to this function, we don't need any device-specific information. Also, remove the call to pcmcia_validate_cis() from pcmciamtd.c, since it is already called by the PCMCIA core. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
2008-08-31pcmcia: card services header cleanupDominik Brodowski

2008-08-23pcmcia: deprecate CS_SUCCESSDominik Brodowski
Instead of using own error or success codes, the PCMCIA code should rely on the generic return values. Therefore, replace all occurrences of CS_SUCCESS with 0. CC: netdev@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
2008-08-23pcmcia: remove remaining in-kernel pcmcia_get_configuration_info() usersDominik Brodowski

2008-08-23pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() improvement by passing vccDominik Brodowski
By passing the current Vcc setting to the pcmcia_config_loop callback function, we can remove pcmcia_get_configuration_info() calls from many drivers. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net>
2008-08-23pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() default CIS entry handlingDominik Brodowski

2008-08-23pcmcia: pcmcia_config_loop() ConfigIndex unificationDominik Brodowski

2008-07-28ipwireless: fix compile failureJames Bottomley
There's a brown paper bag compile failure introduced by this patch commit a01386924874c4d6d67f8a34e66f04452c2abb69 Author: David Sterba <dsterba@suse.cz> Date: Mon Jul 28 16:53:32 2008 +0200 ipwireless: Preallocate received packet buffers with MRU size Really, it can't ever have been even compile tested. 2008-07-28ipwireless: Increase PPP outgoing queue sizeDavid Sterba
ipwireless: Increase PPP outgoing queue size Increase default size of PPP outgoing queue. Currently set to 1, which means that a packet quickly following another pushed by PPP must wait until hardware actually sends the previous and PPP has to be waken up by ppp_wakeup(). This slows down upstream. Now PPP can push more packets at once which get buffered inside driver and pushed immediatelly to hardware when previous packet is out. Experiments show that size = 10 is quite good for all connection types (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS) and gains 4 KB/sec of upload for UMTS for batch uploads. Need for higher queue size than 10 occures in only < 0.1 % of cases.
