2009-10-07atheros: use get_unaligned_le*() for bssid mask settingLuis R. Rodriguez
Historically some macro helpers have been users for this, AR5K_LOW_ID() and AR5K_HIGH_ID(), use upstream unaligned helpers instead. This applid to ath5k and ar9170. ath9k already uses this. Worth noting is ath5k uses an ah_sta_id but that is already the MAC address combined with the associaiton ID, ah_sta_id is really ETH_ALEN in size. 2009-09-29ar9170: fix bug in iq-auto calibration value calculationChristian Lamparter
This patch fixes a embarrassing bug which was introduced by: "[PATCH] ar9170: implement frequency calibration for one-stage/openfw" The phy_data variable initialization has to done outside the for-loop scope. This is because the for-loop uses u32 phy_data variable more like a 4-byte field. But in each run only a single byte is calculated. Therefore phy_data content needs to stay the same for at least 3 more iterations, before the complete set can be uploaded. 2009-09-08ath,ar9170: implemented conformance test limit calc. for tx powerJoerg Albert
apply the conformance test limits (CTL) stored in the eeprom upon the values calculated for the tx power (ar->power_*). This is based on the implementation in the vendor driver (hal/hpmain.c, line 3700 ff.) with one difference: If any ctl mode isn't found in the eeprom, we fall back to the "lower", legacy modes (5GHT20,11A or 2GHT20,11G,11B). Otus only did 5GHT20->11A. Currently CTL are applied for the FCC group only. Signed-off-by: Joerg Albert <jal2@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-09-08ar9170: implement frequency calibration for one-stage/openfwChristian Lamparter
This patch ports some code from the vendor driver, which is supposed to upload the right calibration values for the chosen frequency. In theory, this should give a better range and throughput for all users with the open, or one-stage firmware. Signed-off-by: Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@googlemail.com> Signed-off-by: John W. 2009-08-20mac80211: allow configure_filter callback to sleepJohannes Berg
Over time, a whole bunch of drivers have come up with their own scheme to delay the configure_filter operation to a workqueue. To be able to simplify things, allow configure_filter to sleep, and add a new prepare_multicast callback that drivers that need the multicast address list implement. This new callback must be atomic, but most drivers either don't care or just calculate a hash which can be done atomically and then uploaded to the hardware non-atomically. A cursory look suggests that at76c50x-usb, ar9170, mwl8k (which is actually very broken now), rt2x00, wl1251, wl1271 and zd1211 should make use of this new capability. 2009-08-04mac80211: redefine usage of the mac80211 workqueueLuis R. Rodriguez
The mac80211 workqueue exists to enable mac80211 and drivers to queue their own work on a single threaded workqueue. mac80211 takes care to flush the workqueue during suspend but we never really had requirements on drivers for how they should use the workqueue in consideration for suspend. We extend mac80211 to document how the mac80211 workqueue should be used, how it should not be used and finally move raw access to the workqueue to mac80211 only. Drivers and mac80211 use helpers to queue work onto the mac80211 workqueue: * ieee80211_queue_work() * ieee80211_queue_delayed_work() These helpers will now warn if mac80211 already completed its suspend cycle and someone is trying to queue work. mac80211 flushes the mac80211 workqueue prior to suspend a few times, but we haven't taken the care to ensure drivers won't add more work after suspend. To help with this we add a warning when someone tries to add work and mac80211 already completed the suspend cycle. Drivers should ensure they cancel any work or delayed work in the mac80211 stop() callback. Signed-off-by: Luis R. Rodriguez <lrodriguez@atheros.com> Signed-off-by: John W. 2009-07-24ar9170: implement transmit aggregationChristian Lamparter
This patch roughly implements xmit aggregation for ar9170-like device. Not all AP are compatible with the driver(and firmware) yet, so YMMV. A more refined code will definitely need the final HT specification to be available for the public, lots of firmware modification and possibly a redesigned driver just for good measure. Sadly, these conditions won't come true anytime soon... Signed-off-by: Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@web.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-07-10ar9170usb: module link in sysfsChristian Lamparter

2009-07-10mac80211: push rx status into skb->cbJohannes Berg
Within mac80211, we often need to copy the rx status into skb->cb. This is wasteful, as drivers could be building it in there to start with. This patch changes the API so that drivers are expected to pass the RX status in skb->cb, now accessible as IEEE80211_SKB_RXCB(skb). It also updates all drivers to pass the rx status in there, but only by making them memcpy() it into place before the call to the receive function (ieee80211_rx(_irqsafe)). Each driver can now be optimised on its own schedule. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>
2009-06-10ar9170: xmit code revampChristian Lamparter
This patch is a back-port from aggregation testing code. In the past, we didn't limit the amount of active tx urbs. However, ar9170 only has a limited buffer reserved for pending data frames. This wasn't much of a problem with the slower 802.11b/g. We simply stopped the full queue and moved on to something different in the mean time. But - as you guessed it - this simple approach stands in way for a decent aggregation implementation. Signed-off-by: Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@web.de> Signed-off-by: John W. Linville <linville@tuxdriver.com>

2009-06-03ar9170: cancel led worker properly on exitChristian Lamparter
"[PATCH 3/4 v2] ar9170: fix LED power state handling" revealed a bug which can cause a ugly crash. The delayed worker is canceled before the LED class functions are unregistered... 2009-06-03ar9170usb: more minor fixesChristian Lamparter
This patch contains a few more mostly random fixes for the USB front-end. 1. handle irq command response, instead of printing it to the console. 2. remove fixed FIXME. (real fix: "ar9170usb: reset device on resume". ) 3. some more one-liner. - get rid of a useless "return;" - add a few branch prediction hints in hot-paths etc. Signed-off-by: Christian Lamparter <chunkeey@web.de> Signed-off-by: John W. 2009-06-03ar9170: fix LED power state handlingChristian Lamparter

2009-06-03ar9170: use bitop macros for tx filter flagsChristian Lamparter

2009-05-06ar9170: handle otus' A-MPDU density definitionsChristian Lamparter
Otus uses slightly different set of "Minimum MPDU Start Spacing" values than the 802.11n D2.0 specifies. (the whole table is shifted by one and therefore the 16us spacing is not officially available!) And while we're at it, we also initialize our MAC's density register. 2009-05-06mac80211: unify config_interface and bss_info_changedJohannes Berg
The config_interface method is a little strange, it contains the BSSID and beacon updates, while bss_info_changed contains most other BSS information for each interface. 2009-05-06mac80211: clean up beacon interval settingsJohannes Berg
We currently have two beacon interval configuration knobs: hw.conf.beacon_int and vif.bss_info.beacon_int. This is rather confusing, even though the former is used when we beacon ourselves and the latter when we are associated to an AP. This just deprecates the hw.conf.beacon_int setting in favour of always using vif.bss_info.beacon_int. Since it touches all the beaconing IBSS code anyway, we can also add support for the cfg80211 IBSS beacon interval configuration easily. NOTE: The hw.conf.beacon_int setting is retained for now due to drivers still using it -- I couldn't untangle all drivers, some are updated in this patch.
