2005-07-12[NET]: __be'ify *_type_trans()Alexey Dobriyan
tr_type_trans(), hippi_type_trans() left as-is. Signed-off-by: Alexey Dobriyan <adobriyan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-07-11[NET]: move config options out to individual protocolsSam Ravnborg
Move the protocol specific config options out to the specific protocols. With this change net/Kconfig now starts to become readable and serve as a good basis for further re-structuring. The menu structure is left almost intact, except that indention is fixed in most cases. Most visible are the INET changes where several "depends on INET" are replaced with a single ifdef INET / endif pair. Several new files were created to accomplish this change - they are small but serve the purpose that config options are now distributed out where they belongs. 2005-07-11[NET]: add a top-level Networking menu to *configSam Ravnborg
Create a new top-level menu named "Networking" thus moving net related options and protocol selection way from the drivers menu and up on the top-level where they belong. To implement this all architectures has to source "net/Kconfig" before drivers/*/Kconfig in their Kconfig file. This change has been implemented for all architectures. Device drivers for ordinary NIC's are still to be found in the Device Drivers section, but Bluetooth, IrDA and ax25 are located with their corresponding menu entries under the new networking menu item. 2005-07-11[ACPI] S3 Suspend to RAM: fix driver suspend/resume methodsDavid Shaohua Li
Drivers should do this: .suspend() pci_disable_device() .resume() pci_enable_device() http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3469 Signed-off-by: David Shaohua Li <shaohua.li@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
2005-07-08[NET]: Transform skb_queue_len() binary tests into skb_queue_empty()David S. Miller
This is part of the grand scheme to eliminate the qlen member of skb_queue_head, and subsequently remove the 'list' member of sk_buff. Most users of skb_queue_len() want to know if the queue is empty or not, and that's trivially done with skb_queue_empty() which doesn't use the skb_queue_head->qlen member and instead uses the queue list emptyness as the test. 2005-07-07[PATCH] pcmcia: remove references to pcmcia/version.hDominik Brodowski
As a follow-up, remove the inclusion of pcmcia/version.h in many files. Signed-off-by: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-07-07[PATCH] pcmcia: move event handlerDominik Brodowski
Move the "event handler" to struct pcmcia_driver -- the unified event handler will disappear really soon, but switching it to struct pcmcia_driver in the meantime allows for better "step-by-step" patches. 2005-07-07[PATCH] ppc64: Add new PHY to sungemBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch adds support for some new PHY models to sungem as used on some recent Apple iMac G5 models. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-07-06[PATCH] openfirmware: generate device table for userspaceJeff Mahoney
This converts the usage of struct of_match to struct of_device_id, similar to pci_device_id. This allows a device table to be generated, which can be parsed by depmod(8) to generate a map file for module loading. In order for hotplug to work with macio devices, patches to module-init-tools and hotplug must be applied. Those patches are available at: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/jeffm/linux/macio-hotplug/ Signed-off-by: Jeff Mahoney <jeffm@suse.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>

2005-06-29[PATCH] ARM: 2723/2: remove __udivdi3 and __umoddi3 from the kernelNicolas Pitre
Patch from Nicolas Pitre Those are big, slow and generally not recommended for kernel code. They are even not present on i386. So it should be concluded that one could as well get away with do_div() alone. Signed-off-by: Nicolas Pitre <nico@cam.org> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

For msleep_interruptible(). Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-06-28[NET]: Remove gratuitous use of skb->tail in network drivers.David S. Miller
Many drivers use skb->tail unnecessarily. In these situations, the code roughly looks like: dev = dev_alloc_skb(...); [optional] skb_reserve(skb, ...); ... skb->tail ... But even if the skb_reserve() happens, skb->data equals skb->tail. So it doesn't make any sense to use anything other than skb->data in these cases. Another case was the s2io.c driver directly mucking with the skb->data and skb->tail pointers. It really just wanted to do an skb_reserve(), so that's what the code was changed to do instead. Another reason I'm making this change as it allows some SKB cleanups I have planned simpler to merge. In those cleanups, skb->head, skb->tail, and skb->end pointers are removed, and replaced with skb->head_room and skb->tail_room integers. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Acked-by: Jeff Garzik <jgarzik@pobox.com>

2005-06-27[PATCH] PCI: make drivers use the pci shutdown callback instead of the ↵Greg Kroah-Hartman

2005-06-27[PATCH] Use pci_set_dma_mask() instead of direct assignment of DMA maskTobias Klauser
The amd8111e driver directly assigns the DMA mask to the dma_mask member of the struct pci_dev instead of using pci_set_dma_mask(). This makes the call to pci_dma_supported() redundant as pci_set_dma_mask() does this check. I do not own this device so I only compile-tested this patch. Signed-off-by: Tobias Klauser <tklauser@nuerscht.ch>
2005-06-27[PATCH] smc91x needs settable IRQ trigger typeDavid Brownell
For boards that invert the SMC91x IRQ line (maybe an FPGA inverts it), the set_irq_type() call can't assume IRQT_RISING. These particular boards currently use OMAP-specific calls to change the trigger type, but the boards break when set_irq_type() stops being a NOP.
