2008-08-12matrox maven: convert to a new-style i2c driverJean Delvare
The legacy i2c model is going away soon, so switch to the new model. 2008-08-12matroxfb: i2c structure templates clean-upJean Delvare
Clean up the use of structure templates in i2c-matroxfb. In this case it's more efficient to initialize the few fields we need individually. This makes i2c-matroxfb.ko 16% smaller on my system. 2008-07-14i2c: Let framebuffer drivers set their I2C bus class to DDCJean Delvare
Let framebuffer drivers set their I2C bus class to DDC. Once this is done, we will be able to tell the eeprom driver to only probe for EDID EEPROMs on these buses. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2007-05-01i2c: Shrink struct i2c_clientDavid Brownell
This shrinks the size of "struct i2c_client" by 40 bytes: - Substantially shrinks the string used to identify the chip type - The "flags" don't need to be so big - Removes some internal padding It also adds kerneldoc for that struct, explaining how "name" is really a chip type identifier; it's otherwise potentially confusing. Because the I2C_NAME_SIZE symbol was abused for both i2c_client.name and for i2c_adapter.name, this needed to affect i2c_adapter too. The adapters which used that symbol now use the more-obviously-correct idiom of taking the size of that field. JD: Shorten i2c_adapter.name from 50 to 48 bytes while we're here, to avoid wasting space in padding. 2007-02-13i2c: Declare more i2c_adapter parent devicesJean Delvare
Declare the parent device of i2c_adapter devices each time we can easily do so. It makes the i2c_adapter appear at the right place in the device tree, rather than as a platform device. 2007-02-12[PATCH] matroxfb: Use kzallocJean Delvare
Use kzalloc instead of kmalloc+memset, twice. 2006-12-13[PATCH] getting rid of all casts of k[cmz]alloc() callsRobert P. J. Day
Run this: #!/bin/sh for f in $(grep -Erl "\([^\)]*\) *k[cmz]alloc" *) ; do echo "De-casting $f..." perl -pi -e "s/ ?= ?\([^\)]*\) *(k[cmz]alloc) *\(/ = \1\(/" $f done And then go through and reinstate those cases where code is casting pointers to non-pointers. And then drop a few hunks which conflicted with outstanding work. 2006-12-10i2c: Discard the i2c algo del_bus wrappersJean Delvare
They are all only calling i2c_del_adapter, so we may as well do it directly. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2006-09-26i2c-algo-bit: Discard the mdelay data struct memberJean Delvare
i2c-algo-bit: Discard the mdelay data struct member The i2c_algo_bit_data structure has an mdelay member, which is not used by the algorithm code (the code has always been ifdef'd out.) Let's discard it to save some code and memory. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
