2008-11-16udp: Use hlist_nulls in UDP RCU codeEric Dumazet
This is a straightforward patch, using hlist_nulls infrastructure. RCUification already done on UDP two weeks ago. Using hlist_nulls permits us to avoid some memory barriers, both at lookup time and delete time. Patch is large because it adds new macros to include/net/sock.h. These macros will be used by TCP & DCCP in next patch. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-10-29udp: introduce sk_for_each_rcu_safenext()Eric Dumazet
Corey Minyard found a race added in commit 271b72c7fa82c2c7a795bc16896149933110672d (udp: RCU handling for Unicast packets.) "If the socket is moved from one list to another list in-between the time the hash is calculated and the next field is accessed, and the socket has moved to the end of the new list, the traversal will not complete properly on the list it should have, since the socket will be on the end of the new list and there's not a way to tell it's on a new list and restart the list traversal. I think that this can be solved by pre-fetching the "next" field (with proper barriers) before checking the hash." This patch corrects this problem, introducing a new sk_for_each_rcu_safenext() macro. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-08-15rcu: remove list_for_each_rcu()Paul E. McKenney
All of the in-tree uses of list_for_each_rcu() have been converted to list_for_each_entry_rcu(), so list_for_each_rcu() can now be removed. Signed-off-by: Paul E. McKenney <paulmck@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>

2008-05-19RCU, rculist.h: fix list iteratorsPaul E. McKenney
RCU list iterators: should prefetch ever be optimised out with no side-effects, the current version will lose the barrier completely. 2008-05-19rculist.h: use the rcu APIFranck Bui-Huu
Make almost all list mutation primitives use rcu_assign_pointer(). The main point of this being readability improvement. Signed-off-by: Franck Bui-Huu <fbuihuu@gmail.com> Cc: "Paul E. 2008-05-19rcu: split list.h and move rcu-protected lists into rculist.hFranck Bui-Huu
Move rcu-protected lists from list.h into a new header file rculist.h. This is done because list are a very used primitive structure all over the kernel and it's currently impossible to include other header files in this list.h without creating some circular dependencies. For example, list.h implements rcu-protected list and uses rcu_dereference() without including rcupdate.h. It actually compiles because users of rcu_dereference() are macros. Others RCU functions could be used too but aren't probably because of this. Therefore this patch creates rculist.h which includes rcupdates without to many changes/troubles.
