2008-01-28[NETNS][IPV6]: inet6_addr - ipv6_get_ifaddr namespace awareDaniel Lezcano
The inet6_addr_lst is browsed taking into account the network namespace specified as parameter. If an address does not belong to the specified namespace, it is ignored. 2008-01-28[NETNS][IPV6]: inet6_addr - check ipv6 address per namespaceDaniel Lezcano
When a new address is added, we must check if the new address does not already exists. This patch makes this check to be aware of a network namespace, so the check will look if the address already exists for the specified network namespace. While the addresses are browsed, the addresses which do not belong to the namespace are discarded. 2008-01-28[NETNS]: Use the per-net ipv6_devconf(_all) in sysctl handlersPavel Emelyanov
Actually the net->ipv6.devconf_all can be used in a few places, but to keep the /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/ sysctls work consistently in the namespace we should use the per-net devconf_all in the sysctl "forwarding" handler. 2008-01-28[NETNS]: Use the per-net ipv6_devconf_dfltPavel Emelyanov
All its users are in net/ipv6/addrconf.c's sysctl handlers. Since they already have the struct net to get from, the per-net ipv6_devconf_dflt can already be used. Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[NETNS]: Create ipv6 devconf-s for namespacesPavel Emelyanov
This is the core. Declare and register the pernet subsys for addrconf. The init callback the will create the devconf-s. The init_net will reuse the existing statically declared confs, so that accessing them from inside the ipv6 code will still work. The register_pernet_subsys() is moved above the ipv6_add_dev() call for loopback, because this function will need the net->devconf_dflt pointer to be already set. 2008-01-28[NETNS]: Make the ctl-tables per-namespacePavel Emelyanov
This includes passing the net to __addrconf_sysctl_register and saving this on the ctl_table->extra2 to be used in handlers (those, needing it). Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[NETNS]: Make the __addrconf_sysctl_register return an errorPavel Emelyanov
This error code will be needed to abort the namespace creation if needed. Probably, this is to be checked when a new device is created (currently it is ignored). Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[NETNS]: Clean out the ipv6-related sysctls creation/destructionPavel Emelyanov
The addrconf sysctls and neigh sysctls are registered and unregistered always in pairs, so they can be joined into one (well, two) functions, that accept the struct inet6_dev and do all the job. This also get rids of unneeded ifdefs inside the code. Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[IPV6]: fix section mismatch warningsDaniel Lezcano

2008-01-28[IPV6]: Eliminate difference in actions of sysctl and proc handler for ↵Pavel Emelyanov
conf.all.forwarding The only difference in this case is that updating all.forwarding causes the update in default.forwarding when done via proc, but not via the system call. Besides, this consolidates a good portion of code. Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[IPV6]: Use ctl paths to register addrconf sysctlsPavel Emelyanov
This looks very much like the patch for ipv4's devinet. This is also intended to help us with the net namespaces and saves the ipv6.ko size by ~320 bytes. The difference from the first version is just the patch offsets, that changed due to changes in the patch #2. 2008-01-28[IPV6]: Unify and cleanup calls to addrconf_sysctl_registerPavel Emelyanov
Currently this call is (ab)used similar to devinet one - it registers sysctls for devices and for the "default" confs, while the "all" sysctls are registered separately. But unlike its devinet brother, the passed inet6_device is needed. The fix is to make a __addrconf_sysctl_register(), which registers sysctls for all "devices" we need, including "default" and "all" :) The original addrconf_sysctl_register() calls the introduced function, passing the inet6_device, device name and ifindex (to be used as procname and ctl_name) into it. Thanks to Herbert again for pointing out, that we can shrink the argument list to 1 :) Signed-off-by: Pavel Emelyanov <xemul@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-01-28[IPV6]: Add RFC4214 supportFred L. Templin
This patch includes support for the Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol (ISATAP) per RFC4214. It uses the SIT module, and is configured using extensions to the "iproute2" utility. The diffs are specific to the Linux 2.6.24-rc2 kernel distribution. This version includes the diff for ./include/linux/if.h which was missing in the v2.4 submission and is needed to make the patch compile. The patch has been installed, compiled and tested in a clean 2.6.24-rc2 kernel build area. Signed-off-by: Fred L. 2008-01-28[NET]: Modify all rtnetlink methods to only work in the initial namespace (v2)Denis V. Lunev
Before I can enable rtnetlink to work in all network namespaces I need to be certain that something won't break. 2007-11-30[IPV6]: Restore IPv6 when MTU is big enoughEvgeniy Polyakov
Avaid provided test application, so bug got fixed. IPv6 addrconf removes ipv6 inner device from netdev each time cmu changes and new value is less than IPV6_MIN_MTU (1280 bytes). When mtu is changed and new value is greater than IPV6_MIN_MTU, it does not add ipv6 addresses and inner device bac. This patch fixes that. Tested with Avaid's application, which works ok now. 2007-10-10[IPV6]: Defer IPv6 device initialization until a valid qdisc is specifiedMitsuru Chinen
To judge the timing for DAD, netif_carrier_ok() is used. However, there is a possibility that dev->qdisc stays noop_qdisc even if netif_carrier_ok() returns true. In that case, DAD NS is not sent out. We need to defer the IPv6 device initialization until a valid qdisc is specified. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make core networking code use seq_open_privatePavel Emelyanov

2007-10-10[NET]: Make the loopback device per network namespace.Eric W. Biederman
This patch makes loopback_dev per network namespace. Adding code to create a different loopback device for each network namespace and adding the code to free a loopback device when a network namespace exits. This patch modifies all users the loopback_dev so they access it as init_net.loopback_dev, keeping all of the code compiling and working. 2007-10-10[NET]: Dynamically allocate the loopback device, part 1.Daniel Lezcano

2007-10-10[IPV6]: Add ICMPMsgStats MIB (RFC 4293) [rev 2]David L Stevens
Background: RFC 4293 deprecates existing individual, named ICMP type counters to be replaced with the ICMPMsgStatsTable. This table includes entries for both IPv4 and IPv6, and requires counting of all ICMP types, whether or not the machine implements the type. These patches "remove" (but not really) the existing counters, and replace them with the ICMPMsgStats tables for v4 and v6. It includes the named counters in the /proc places they were, but gets the values for them from the new tables. It also counts packets generated from raw socket output (e.g., OutEchoes, MLD queries, RA's from radvd, etc). Changes: 1) create icmpmsg_statistics mib 2) create icmpv6msg_statistics mib 3) modify existing counters to use these 4) modify /proc/net/snmp to add "IcmpMsg" with all ICMP types listed by number for easy SNMP parsing 5) modify /proc/net/snmp printing for "Icmp" to get the named data from new counters. [new to 2nd revision] 6) support per-interface ICMP stats 7) use common macro for per-device stat macros Signed-off-by: David L Stevens <dlstevens@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-10-10[NET]: Make the device list and device lookups per namespace.Eric W. Biederman
This patch makes most of the generic device layer network namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a network namespace variable, and then it picks up a few associated variables. The functions: dev_getbyhwaddr dev_getfirsthwbytype dev_get_by_flags dev_get_by_name __dev_get_by_name dev_get_by_index __dev_get_by_index dev_ioctl dev_ethtool dev_load wireless_process_ioctl were modified to take a network namespace argument, and deal with it. vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their hooks will receive a network namespace argument. So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces. For now the ifindex generator is left global. Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else we will have corner case problems with migration when we get that far. At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when you change namespaces, and the like. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Make device event notification network namespace safeEric W. Biederman
Every user of the network device notifiers is either a protocol stack or a pseudo device. If a protocol stack that does not have support for multiple network namespaces receives an event for a device that is not in the initial network namespace it quite possibly can get confused and do the wrong thing. To avoid problems until all of the protocol stacks are converted this patch modifies all netdev event handlers to ignore events on devices that are not in the initial network namespace. As the rest of the code is made network namespace aware these checks can be removed. Signed-off-by: Eric W. Biederman <ebiederm@xmission.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Make /proc/net per network namespaceEric W. Biederman
This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace. The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument, and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument. This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces. Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents that are relevant to a single network namespace. 2007-09-16[IPV6]: Fix source address selection.Jiri Kosina
The commit 95c385 broke proper source address selection for cases in which there is a address which is makred 'deprecated'. The commit mistakenly changed ifa->flags to ifa_result->flags (probably copy/paste error from a few lines above) in the 'Rule 3' address selection code. 2007-07-10[IPV6] MIP6: Loadable module support for MIPv6.Masahide NAKAMURA
This patch makes MIPv6 loadable module named "mip6". Here is a modprobe.conf(5) example to load it automatically when user application uses XFRM state for MIPv6: alias xfrm-type-10-43 mip6 alias xfrm-type-10-60 mip6 Some MIPv6 feature is not included by this modular, however, it should not be affected to other features like either IPsec or IPv6 with and without the patch. We may discuss XFRM, MH (RAW socket) and ancillary data/sockopt separately for future work. Loadable features: * MH receiving check (to send ICMP error back) * RO header parsing and building (i.e. RH2 and HAO in DSTOPTS) * XFRM policy/state database handling for RO These are NOT covered as loadable: * Home Address flags and its rule on source address selection * XFRM sub policy (depends on its own kernel option) * XFRM functions to receive RO as IPv6 extension header * MH sending/receiving through raw socket if user application opens it (since raw socket allows to do so) * RH2 sending as ancillary data * RH2 operation with setsockopt(2) Signed-off-by: Masahide NAKAMURA <nakam@linux-ipv6.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-07-10bonding / ipv6: no addrconf for slaves separately from masterJay Vosburgh
At present, when a device is enslaved to bonding, if ipv6 is active then addrconf will be initated on the slave (because it is closed then opened during the enslavement processing). This causes DAD and RS packets to be sent from the slave. These packets in turn can confuse switches that perform ipv6 snooping, causing them to incorrectly update their forwarding tables (if, e.g., the slave being added is an inactve backup that won't be used right away) and direct traffic away from the active slave to a backup slave (where the incoming packets will be dropped). This patch alters the behavior so that addrconf will only run on the master device itself. I believe this is logically correct, as it prevents slaves from having an IPv6 identity independent from the master. This is consistent with the IPv4 behavior for bonding. This is accomplished by (a) having bonding set IFF_SLAVE sooner in the enslavement processing than currently occurs (before open, not after), and (b) having ipv6 addrconf ignore UP and CHANGE events on slave devices. The eql driver also uses the IFF_SLAVE flag. I inspected eql, and I believe this change is reasonable for its usage of IFF_SLAVE, but I did not test it. 2007-06-14[IPV6] addrconf: Fix IPv6 on tuntap tunnelsHerbert Xu
The recent patch that added ipv6_hwtype is broken on tuntap tunnels. Indeed, it's broken on any device that does not pass the ipv6_hwtype test. The reason is that the original test only applies to autoconfiguration, not IPv6 support. IPv6 support is allowed on any device. In fact, even with the ipv6_hwtype patch applied you can still add IPv6 addresses to any interface that doesn't pass thw ipv6_hwtype test provided that they have a sufficiently large MTU. This is a serious problem because come deregistration time these devices won't be cleaned up properly. I've gone back and looked at the rationale for the patch. It appears that the real problem is that we were creating IPv6 devices even if the MTU was too small. So here's a patch which fixes that and reverts the ipv6_hwtype stuff.
