2008-10-17V4L/DVB (9227): MFE: Add multi-frontend mutual exclusionDarron Broad
This add frontend R/W mutual exclusion. Prior to this point in time it was possible to open both frontends simultaneously which an MFE card cannot support. In order to stop this, a delayed open is performed which has the following function: - Return EBUSY after a configurable amount of time if a frontend is unavailable due to the other being in use. - Only allow opening of a frontend if the kernel thread of the other has stopped. This solution was chosen to allow switching between frontends to work as seamlessly as possible. When both frontends are actually opened simultaneously then one will only open, but if quick switching is performed between one of many then the new open will succeed in a clean fashion rather than interrupting a kernel thread. A number of reference to videobuf_dvb_get_frontend used an invalid index. This has been fixed. The section for the HVR3000 in advise_acquire was redundant as the same logic is used on the HVR4000. This has been removed and both cards now use the same function. A number of small errors and whitespace errors are also fixed. A detailed description from the original patches 2 years ago: "The WinTV-HVR3000 has a single transport bus which is shared between a DVB-T and DVB-S modulator. These patches build on the bus acquisition cx88 work from a few weeks ago to add support for this. So to applications the HVR3000 looks like this: /dev/dvb/adapter0/fe0 (cx24123 DVB-S demod) /dev/dvb/adapter0/fe1 (cx22702 DVB-T demod) Additional boards continue as before, eg: /dev/dvb/adapter1/fe0 (lgdt3302 ATSC demod) The basic change is removing the single instance of the videobuf_dvb in cx8802_dev and saa7134_dev(?) and replacing it with a list and some supporting functions. *NOTE* This branch was taken before v4l-dvb was closed for 2.6.19 so two or three current cx88 patches appear to be reversed by this tree, this will be cleaned up in the near future. The patches missing change the mutex handing to core->lock, fix an enumeration problem." It should be recognised that a number of people have been maintaining this patchset. We currently switch the DVB-T RF feed to the radio input, like on the P7131 with female radio connector used also for DVB-T and should improve this. A fresh copy of v.29 firmware, using get_firmware, is leading to an invalid firmware: DVB: registering new adapter (saa7133[0]) DVB: registering frontend 0 (Philips TDA10046H DVB-T)... tda1004x: setting up plls for 48MHz sampling clock tda1004x: found firmware revision ff -- invalid tda1004x: trying to boot from eeprom tda1004x: found firmware revision ff -- invalid tda1004x: waiting for firmware upload... tda1004x: Error during firmware upload tda1004x: found firmware revision ff -- invalid tda1004x: firmware upload failed Sometimes, loading/unloading this firmware makes tda1004x to return an invalid ID. However, there were no printk messages to help to identify what were the cause for the error. With this patch, it will now print: Invalid tda1004x ID = 0xff. 2008-04-24V4L/DVB (7538): Adds selectable adapter numbers as per module optionJanne Grunau
The adapter_nr module options can be used to allocate static adapter numbers on a driver level. It avoids problems with changing DVB apapter numbers after warm/cold boot or device unplugging and repluging. Each driver holds DVB_MAX_ADAPTER long array of the preferred order of adapter numbers. options dvb-usb-dib0700 adapter_nr=7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0 would result in a reversed allocation of adapter numbers. With adapter_nr=2,5 it tries first to get adapter number 2 and 5. If both are already in use it will allocate the lowest free adapter number. There are some restrictions: - The 2nd DVB-S section will only work if the 1st is configured for DVB-S too. so "options saa7134-dvb use_frontend=0,1" won't work. - Currently it is not possible to set the higher LNB supply voltages, so 14V instead of 13V in the 2nd section. - It is not possibe to turn off the 2nd LNB supply independently. This comes from the problem that the 2nd section can't access the i2c interface of the LNB supply chip. tuner-xc2028 needs to know when a DVB module is sharing the same analog tuner. This is done by comparing a magic number that needs to be the same on analog and on digital. To make easier, this magic number is a pointer to some data struct. With the previous code, two different pointers were using, causing a miss-detection. This patch adds support for the following saa7134 xc3028 based boards: 132 -> AVerMedia Cardbus TV/Radio (E506R) [1461:f436] 133 -> AVerMedia Hybrid TV/Radio (A16D) [1461:f936] 134 -> Avermedia M115 [1461:a836] 135 -> Compro VideoMate T750 [185b:c900] This is based on a original patch thanks to Markus Rechberger that added xc3028 gpio init code for the above boards. This patch moves saa7134_tuner_callback to saa7134-cards, originally used only by tda8290 DVB-S boards. The callback was made more generic to support other tuners. Currently, the only tuner-specific device that allows special configurations is tda9887. However, tea5767 also may require some special configurations (for example, to specify a different Xtal freq). This patch replaces TDA9887_SET_CONFIG by a more generic internal ioctl (TUNER_SET_CONFIG). PCI-dependent videobuf_foo methods were renamed as videobuf_pci_foo. Also, videobuf_dmabuf is now part of videobuf-dma-sg private struct. So, to access it, a subroutine call is needed. This patch renames all occurences of those function calls to be consistent with the video-buf split. 2007-07-18V4L/DVB (5636): Integrate all users of the fmd1216 tuner with dvb-pllTrent Piepho
Enhance the dvb-pll definition of the fmd1216 tuner by adding an init sequence and a sleep sequence. The init sequence sets the AGC control register to 0xa0, selecting the fast time constant and 112 dBuV take-over point. This the recommended value for DVB-T operation. The sleep sequence sets bit P4 (which is believed to turn the analog demodulator on), turns off the tuning voltage, and sets the AGC control register to 0x60 (external AGC voltage, the recommended value for analog operation). The existing dvb-pll users in the cx88 driver, listed below, will gain these init and sleep sequences. DVB-T Pro In these saa7134 driver, these non-dvb-pll users are converted to use dvb-pll: SAA7134_BOARD_MD7134 Medion 7134 SAA7134_BOARD_ASUS_EUROPA2_HYBRID Asus Europa2 OEM The saa7134 functions philips_fmd1216_tuner_init(), philips_fmd1216_tuner_sleep(), and philips_fmd1216_tuner_set_params() are deleted and the dvb-pll versions are used. This should result in equivalent sleep, init, and tuning sequences being sent to the tuner. For the cxusb driver, only one board is effected: USB_PID_MEDION_MD95700 Medion MD95700 This board used dvb_usb_tuner_init_i2c() and dvb_usb_tuner_set_params_i2c() for init and tuning, respectively. These functions are effectively the same as the dvb-pll versions. They call a tuner pass control function defined at the dvb-usb level, but this does not matter, as this card does not have a tuner pass control function (only the dib3000mb does). This board will gain the sleep sequence, while init and tuning should be unchanged.
