2005-11-14powerpc: Move a bunch of ppc64 headers to include/asm-powerpcPaul Mackerras
... and also delete some that are no longer used because we already had an include/asm-powerpc version of the header. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2005-11-10ppc64: Add declarations to ppc64 headers as well as powerpc headersPaul Mackerras
For now, we need these declarations that we moved from C code in the asm-ppc64 versions of these headers as well as the asm-powerpc versions. The asm-ppc64 versions will be disappearing shortly. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2005-11-08[PATCH] ppc64: SMU partition recoveryBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch adds the ability to the SMU driver to recover missing calibration partitions from the SMU chip itself. It also adds some dynamic mecanism to /proc/device-tree so that new properties are visible to userland. 2005-11-06[PATCH] ppc64: support 64k pagesBenjamin Herrenschmidt
Adds a new CONFIG_PPC_64K_PAGES which, when enabled, changes the kernel base page size to 64K. The resulting kernel still boots on any hardware. On current machines with 4K pages support only, the kernel will maintain 16 "subpages" for each 64K page transparently. Note that while real 64K capable HW has been tested, the current patch will not enable it yet as such hardware is not released yet, and I'm still verifying with the firmware architects the proper to get the information from the newer hypervisors. 2005-10-14powerpc: move iSeries/iSeries_pci.h to platforms/iseriesStephen Rothwell
The only real user of this file outside platforms/iseries was drivers/net/iseries_veth.c but all it wanted was ISERIES_HV_ADDR() so we move that to abs_addr.h (and lowercase it). Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au>
2005-09-28ppc64 iSeries: use device_node instead of iSeries_Device_nodeStephen Rothwell
There needs to be more cleanup after this. Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au>
2005-09-09[PATCH] Separate pci bits out of struct device_nodePaul Mackerras
This patch pulls the PCI-related junk out of struct device_node and puts it in a separate structure, struct pci_dn. The device_node now just has a void * pointer in it, which points to a struct pci_dn for nodes that represent PCI devices. It could potentially be used in future for device-specific data for other sorts of devices, such as virtual I/O devices. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2005-08-29[PATCH] flattened device tree changesBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch updates the format of the flattened device-tree passed between the boot trampoline and the kernel to support a more compact representation, for use by embedded systems mostly. 2005-06-01[PATCH] ppc32/ppc64: cleanup /proc/device-treeBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This cleans up the /proc/device-tree representation of the Open Firmware device-tree on ppc and ppc64. It does the following things: - Workaround an issue in some Apple device-trees where a property may exist with the same name as a child node of the parent. We now simply "drop" the property instead of creating duplicate entries in /proc with random result... - Do not try to chop off the "@0" at the end of a node name whose unit address is 0. This is not useful, inconsistent, and the code was buggy and didn't always work anyway. - Do not create symlinks for the short name and unit address parts of a node. These were never really used, bloated the memory footprint of the device-tree with useless struct proc_dir_entry and their matching dentry and inode cache bloat. This results in smaller code, smaller memory footprint, and a more accurate view of the tree presented to userland. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
